While consulting for the TV series Madam Secretary, Anna Jane Joyner recognized a critical gap in Hollywood: less than 3% of scripted film and TV included any reference to climate change. Seeing this as a missed opportunity, she conducted hundreds of interviews with screenwriters, showrunners, creative executives, and other Hollywood leaders to learn more. This led her to found Good Energy, a non-profit that supports TV and film makers in telling compelling stories that reflect the urgent reality of climate change.

With more than 20 years of experience in climate communications, Joyner has dedicated herself to mobilizing a variety of audiences, including faith communities, sports fans, Southerners, and more. Her efforts to engage evangelicals on climate — including her own father, a pastor — were featured in the Emmy-award winning Showtime series, Years of Living Dangerously. At Good Energy, Joyner is taking her work to the next level, pairing creators with climate experts and facilitating productive conversations to shift show business’s approach to climate.

Anna Jane Joyner is reshaping climate change storytelling in television and film by connecting film and television creators with climate experts.
