We Are Home X Amplifier

An artist- and activist-led citizenship campaign.

Chants of “We Are Home” echoed from Benjamin Banneker Park to the U.S. Capitol in Washington on September 21, 2021, as thousands of immigrant allies marched to welcome Congress back to session.

The #WelcomeBackCongress action, a broad coalition from more than 30 states, urged policymakers to include legalization for millions of immigrants in Congress’ fiscal year 2022 reconciliation package.

Many demonstrators raised a singular image to the sky: a poster depicting an array of immigrants—farmworkers, first responders, scientists, essential workers—standing proudly in solidarity.

Commissioned by nationwide immigration campaign We Are Home in partnership with Amplifier, the New Venture Fund, and SOZE, and created by artist Alex Albadree, the illustration voiced the urgent need for citizenship, care, and climate action.

"THE AMERICAN PEOPLE WANT ACTION TO PUT IMMIGRANTS ON A PATH TO CITIZENSHIP AND WE BELIEVE THE MAJORITY SHOULD RULE AND CONGRESS SHOULD ACT."

Albadree’s poster punctuated the demonstrators’ message: Policymakers should act quickly to ensure an equitable recovery for all, regardless of their immigration status.

Supporting activations in New York and detention centers across the country asserted immigrants’ rightful place in the fabric of America.

As immigrants await action from policymakers, the statement still stands: We Are Home.
